No. 8 St. Thomas (Minn.) rallies past top-ranked UW-Stevens Point 73-70
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- No. 8 St. Thomas (Minn.) shocked top-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point 73-70 in Sunday's non-conference game at Schoenecker Arena.
The Tommies (2-1) ran their home-court win streak to 16 with the victory.
St. Thomas, which forced 22 turnovers, was led by senior guard Kellie Ring, who had 16 points, a career-best eight steals and four assists. Sophomore center Anna Smith had 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, while Junior Jenna Dockter scored 15 of her team-high 19 points in the second half alone.
St. Thomas trailed 33-30 at halftime and fell behind 46-33, but a 20-2 run put the Toms ahead. UW-Stevens Point hit two late 3-pointers and Sam Barber missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer that would have forced overtime.
Barber scored a game-high 20 points and added six rebounds. Myranda Tyler had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Pointers (3-1).
