WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Whitman had no trouble advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament, as the Missionaries beat Chapman 106-51 on Friday night. Whitworth awaits Whitman in the second round on Saturday.
Five Missionaries scored in double figures, led by Sarah Anderegg's 25. Anderegg shot 10-for-12 from the field and also corralled 10 rebounds. Heather Johns added 13 points, Meghan White had 12, and Hailey Ann Maeda and Katie Gray each contributed 10. As a team, Whitman more than doubled Chapman's shooting percentage, making 39 of 62 shots (62.9 percent) compared to 18 of 56 (32.1 percent). It also outrebounded Chapman 46-23.
Whitman led 51-20 at halftime. A total of 12 Missionaries found the scoring column with 11 of those playing at least 11 minutes.
