Linzmeier wants one last whack at the WIAC

If things go the way Sally Linzmeier envisions, the UW-Superior women’s basketball team will make a lasting memory during its final season in the WIAC.

But one thing is certain seven games into the 2014-15 season, and that is Linzmeier has already made a memorable impact at UW-Superior, which leaves for the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference following the academic year.

The senior guard scored a game-high 22 points and became the Yellowjackets’ all-time leading scorer Saturday during a 58-50 win over UW-Stevens Point.

“It’s a great accomplishment and a great achievement to have. But my main goal coming into college was to get to the national tournament and get as far as we could, and win a conference championship,” said Linzmeier, who now has 1,319 career points. “That [scoring] achievement kind of happened along the way.”
