Watch: Stanford players recreate Top Gun beach volleyball scene to perfection

To the delight of all Maverick fans in the world, Tom Cruise recently announced that the rumored Top Gun sequel is a real deal, and that he plans to begin filming next year.

The original film, which came out in 1986, may have focused on the eponymous Navy fighter pilot school, but the scene most people remember from the movie has absolutely nothing to do with jets, and everything to do with some high-intensity beach volleyball:

So naturally, with the recent news of the Top Gun sequel, Stanford’s beach volleyball team took to the sand to recreate the infamous scene, almost shot for shot — aviator sunglasses and 80s music included. And it is magnificent.

Needless to say, if Top Gun 2 is planning a follow-up to the original’s volleyball scene, these women would be fantastic choices.
