Several Division I cross country teams have begun to flex their muscle as the season starts to peak. Several top-ranked teams were in action over the weekend and many didn't disappoint. The top-ranked Washington women (#1 West Region) had another stellar outing claiming the top four spots at the Notre Dame Invitational. The Huskies dominated the event scoring 33 points, well ahead of second-place Princeton (#3 Mid-Atlantic Region).

The Husky men also competed well at Notre Dame taking home the men's team title.

Wisconsin (#1 Great Lakes Region) hosted the Wisconsin adidas Invitational and finished third in the men's team standings behind event champion Syracuse (#3 Northeast Region) and runner-up Georgetown (#1 Mid-Atlantic Region). Duke (#2 Southeast Region) took home the women's team title.

At the Bill Dellinger Invitational the Villanova (#1 Mid-Atlantic Region) women claimed the team title over host Oregon (#2 West Region), scoring 22 points. On the men's side, Alabama (#1 South Region) came away with the team title over BYU (#3 Mountain Region).

Virginia (#2 Southeast Region) claimed the men's team title in the George Mason Invitational after placing five in the top eight, including the top three finishers. The Virginia (#1 Southeast Region) women also claimed the team title at the George Mason Invitationa.

Many teams will take next week off in preparation for the Pre-Nationals event at Indiana State University, site of the 2009 NCAA Division I Cross Country National Championships.
