No. 2 Northern Arizona at George Kyte Classic
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- No. 2 Northern Arizona began its season in impressing fashion as the men cruised to a first place finish. The Lumberjacks were led by junior Matt McElroy who finished first with a time of 24:45.3.
NAU was dominant at this year's George Kyte Classic having six runners finish in the top ten. Junior Caleb Hoover finished third with a time of 24:56.4 while Andy Trouard, Nathan Weitz, Korey Krotzer and Alejandro Montano finished sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth respectively. The Lumberjack men were able to accomplish this without the likes of Brian Shrader (2012 George Kyte Classic Champion) and Futsum Zienasellassie (2012 First Team All-American) who did not compete.
No. 9 Syracuse at Harry Lang Invitational
HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Syracuse started the 2013 season off with a win, taking first place in the Harry Lang Invitational on Saturday morning. Juris Silenieks was the overall winner for the races.
The SU squad split into an A and B team, which finished in first and second place, respectively. The first eleven finishers were wearing Orange, all finishing within ten seconds of each other. Silenkis, the overall winner, finished with a time of 20:33.00 in the 6400 meter race. The SU A team had a team score of 15, the lowest possible in the event.
