No. 8 Edinboro runs for perfect score, Alaska-Anchorage wins
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Edinboro opened the 2013 season, the first with head coach Rick Hammer at the controls, with a dominating performance in the Fredonia State Invitational on Saturday morning. The Fighting Scots posted a perfect score with just 15 points to easily outdistance the field of seven teams, as the first seven finishers were Edinboro runners. Fredonia State was a distant second with 69 points.
Matt Link picked up the individual crown with a time of 25:27.75 on the 8K course. He edged out teammate and returning All-American Bryan Deibel, who crossed the finish line with a time of 25:27.95. Following the two seniors, sophomore Logan Kempney was third, finishing at 25:31.25. The next four finishers were Boro seniors, as Dylan Stevens was fourth (25:37.87), Dustin Thomas fifth (25:59.01), Bart Eckel sixth (26:02.77) and Michael Thielman seventh (26:09.19).
No. 9 Alaska-Anchorage at Chaminade Invitational
WAIPIO, Hawaii -– Alaska-Anchorage was led by junior Dylan Anthony and remained perfect on the season with a sweep of the Chaminade Invitational on Saturday to complete their Hawaii road trip.
The team posted a score of 23 on the heels of Anthony’s second consecutive victory. Hawaii Pacific earned second with 57 and BYU-Hawaii was third with 62 points.
