New Hampshire Dual Meet: No. 1 Providence (11 a.m. Saturday)
Providence will kick-off the 2013 season at the New Hampshire Dual Meet on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 11:00 a.m. The meet will take place in Durham, N.H. at New Hampshire.

Providence returns after a second-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country championships last season. Providence was ranked No. 1 in the preseason coaches’ poll on Tuesday. This is the first time the team has been ranked No. 1 since the 1996 season, the year after the team took the 1995 national title.

Last season, the women's team earned a first place finish at the New Hampshire Dual Meet.

Covered Bridge Open: No. 2 Florida State (5 p.m. Friday)
No.2 Florida State travels to Appalachian State to open the cross country season at the Covered Bridge Open.


Bull City Classic: No. 4 Duke (3:45 p.m. Saturday)
No. 4 Duke begins the season against North Carolina Central Saturday.

The Blue Devils finished seventh at last year’s NCAA National Championship meet and return five of the seven finishers from the competition.

For the second consecutive year, Saturday's meet will precede the Duke-North Carolina Central football game.

Seattle Open: No. 5 Washington (4 p.m. Friday)
No. 5 Washington’s first meet of the season will be a dual meet against Seattle.

Washington is coming off a ninth-place finish at last year’s NCAA championships, and returns four of its top-five scorers, and five of its top-six overall from the national meet. Last season, Washington was No. 3 to start the year, finishing ninth.

University of San Francisco Invitational: No. 8 Stanford (9:30 a.m. Saturday)
No. 8 Stanford opens the season at the 21st annual San Francisco Invitational.

The course is composed primarily of grass and dirt trails in the Speedway Meadow section of Golden Gate Park.

The teams represented are No. 8 Stanford, California, BYU, Santa Clara, Saint Mary's and Pacific. Runners from Cal State Northridge, UC Santa Cruz and San Jose State are also slated to race the course.
