W DII XC PREVIEW

No. 2 Adams State, No. 9 Metro State, No. 10 Colorado-Colorado Springs at Metro State Invitational

Ninth-ranked Metro State is set to host the Metro State Invitational on Friday in Denver.

IDLE TEAMS
No. 6 Simon Fraser
No. 7 Chico State

Metro State was off this past week, but most recently the team earned a team victory at the Colorado College Invitational on Sept. 21. Janelle Lincks finished first among collegiate runners in the women's 6k race.

Adams State's Kelly Lamb finished 39th and All-American Lauren Martin finished 49th overall to crack the top-50 and lead the ASU women to an 11th place team finish Griak Invitational.

UCCS finished second among Division II teams and fourth among all collegiate teams at the Erik Anderson Invitational on Sept. 21 in Spokane, Wash.  Angie Martell dominated the six-kilometer course in 22 minutes, 19.37 seconds and finished third among Division II runners.

No. 1 Grand Valley State at Notre Dame Invitational

After holding strong against Division I competition this past weekend at the Roy Griak Invitational, the No. 1 and defending champion Grand Valley State won’t be in the top division at Notre Dame Invitational, but will still face tough competition from divisions both above and below them.

Most of the field will be Division I, but GVSU will match-up with GLIAC rival No. 16 Hillsdale and No. 8 Calvin of Division III.

T3 Augustana (S.D.) at Chile Pepper Festival

Reigning national athlete of the week Runa Falch is back in action this weekend as the No. 3 Augustana (S.D.) — tied with No. 3 Western State in the poll — look to build on their resounding Maroon II women’s team crown at the Griak.

Augustana's main DII challenger will be No. 24 Dallas Baptist, which will get its first big test since being ranked nationally for the first time since the middle of 2010.

Last time out, junior Kelsey Bruce was the individual champ at the West Texas A&M Buffalo Stampede where the Patriots finished runners-up as a team.

T3 Western State at Mountaineer Open

Tied-for-third Western State will travel across the country for Appalachian State’s Mountaineer Open on Friday.

The Mountaineer Open will host six other teams at the Don Kennedy Trails including Virginia Tech, College of Charleston, Lenoir-Rhyne, Milligan College, King University and Montreat.

Western State finished as the top NCAA Division II teams at the Rocky Mountain Shootout in Boulder last Saturday.  The Mountaineers finished first with 21 points.

No. 5 Alaska-Anchorage at Willamette Invitational

Fifth-ranked Alaska-Anchorage will compete at the 39th annual Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational at Bush Park, Salem, Ore., on Saturday.

The Seawolves return to the mainland with a sweep of the BYU Hawaii Invite and Chaminade Invite on Aug. 31 and Sept. 7, respectively. Senior Susan Tanui came away victorious in both women’s races.

No. 8 Southern Indiana at Greater Louisville Classic

The nationally-ranked Southern Indiana return to action Saturday when they compete at the Greater Louisville Classic at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.

The Screaming Eagles, who remained No. 8 in the latest USTFCCCA Top 25 poll and No. 2 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region rankings, are returning to the course for the first time since the Spartan Invitational.
