Mich. State produces personal bests

No. 1 Providence at CSSU Mini Meet

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Providence earned a first place finish at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on Friday. Senior Grace Thek led the women in the 3k race at Stanley Quarter Park with a second place finish.

Thek crossed the finsh line with a time of 9:51. Sophomore Kathleen Powell was the second scoring Friar with a time of 10:24 for a 13th place finish. With a time of 10:27 (18th place), senior Jackie McCarty was the third Providence runner to cross the finish line.

Freshman Keelin Hollowood and junior Caile Kohlbrenner were the final Friars to score. Hollowood finished the race in a time of 10:31 in 22nd, while Kohlbrenner finished 23rd with a time of 10:35.

Providence finished tied for first out of 15 teams with 78 points. Massachusetts tied with Providence for first, while Bryant finished third with 117 points. The Friars will use this race to determine the final nine person squad that will compete at the Big East Championships.

No. 6 Michigan State at EMU Fall Classic

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State competed in-state on Friday as the team traveled to the EMU Fall Classic in Dexter, Mich. In their last meet of the regular season, the Spartans finished out the regular season strong at the meet with many personal-best performances.

Earning a big personal-best time of 17:39 was Raquel Serna as she was the top finisher in third-place overall. Close behind in eighth-place was Alana O’Mara who also posted a personal-best time of 18:08. Molly Jeakle picked up her personal-best time of 18:15 to place 12th overall, followed by Meggan Freeland in 14th with a time of 18:22. Also placing in the top-20 was Emily Pap, who’s personal-best time of 18:36 earned her an 18th-place finish.
