No. 5 Williams at James Earley Invitational
WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Williams took advantage of perfect running conditions on Saturday, setting personal records from top to bottom at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State. Twelve of the team's top runners who raced at the Paul Short Invitational on October 5th took this weekend off, but the Harriers racing closer to home made the most of their time in the spotlight. The Ephs won the meet decisively by bringing in six runners before any other school's third and posted a team score of 46 points. Southern New Hampshire was second with 116 points.
"Molly Belk stole the show," assistant coach Lance Harden said. The rookie sophomore finished second overall (18:33) and first for the Ephs in the second race of her running career. Belk was backed up by junior Anna Spiers and senior co-captain Louisa Lee, both of whom are mounting comeback seasons after injuries. The duo placed sixth and eighth overall (19:06, 19:10). Rounding out the scoring for the Ephs were senior Emily Barrecca (14th, 19:23) and junior Talia Calnek-Sugin (16th, 19:36).
