Saratoga Springs, N.Y.Skidmore College senior Emily Clark scored four goals and added two assists to lead the Skidmore College field hockey team to a 6-0 win over New England College in the first round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III tournament, Wednesday afternoon at Skidmore Stadium.

The 10 points ties the NCAA championship record, coincidently in 2002 by Skidmore's Taryn Howard. Howard scored five goals in a 9-0 NCAA tournament win over Wellesley College.

Skidmore advances to this weekend's NCAA regionals. The Thoroughbreds will face Rowan College at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Salisbury, Md. Salisbury University will play Oberlin College in the other semifinal. The winners will play in the regional final on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Clark gave Skidmore a quick 1-0 lead just 2:22 into the game. She made it 2-0 at 15:17 from Katie Weber and then 3-0 at 19:52 from Weber. Annie Ledyard scored her team-high 16th goal on a corner from Clark and Alison Starrett at 25:13 to give the Thoroughbreds a 4-0 lead at the half.

Clark scored 28 seconds into the second half from Ledyard to make it 5-0 and then she assisted on Erin Walters-Bugbee's goal at 58:21. Skidmore outshot New England 39-1 and did not allow a shot on goal for the fourth time this season.

Stephanie Reed did not have to make a save for her fifth shutout of the season for Skidmore (15-5). Jacqui Parker had 25 saves in net for New England (13-6), including 14 in the first half.
