Senior Lisa Charney scored a pair of goals to lead Mary Washington to a 3-1 victory against Eastern on Saturday morning in the second round of the Division III Field Hockey Tournament.

The Eagles advance to the third round on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Battleground.

For the third consecutive game, UMW fell behind, as Eastern scored at 18:30 on a goal by Kinsey Lewis. UMW tied the score 10 minutes later on a goal by Charney, and the score stood tied at one at halftime.

In the second, the Eagles took over, outshooting Eastern 12-4 and netting goals from a Charney penalty stroke at 41:22 and an Amy Abernathy goal on a Caitlin Baker assist at 61:20.

In all, UMW led in shots 28-12, and in penalty corners 17-11. Senior goalkeeper Claire Gianelle had seven saves for Mary Washington, while Kylie Jones had eight saves and Sarah Webb added a defensive save for Eastern.
