MEDFORD, Mass. -- The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its 2013 Penn Monto Division III Preseason Poll Tuesday and the Tufts Jumbos are ranked No. 1.

Head coach Tina McDavitt's Jumbos, who are the defending NCAA champions, received 895 points in the poll to top second-place Montclair State (840). Tufts received 29 of the 48 first-place votes.

New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) rivals Middlebury (third), Bowdoin (fourth), Amherst (16th) and Trinity (19th) are also in the top 20.

Tufts won the 2012 NCAA title with a 2-1 victory against Montclair State on Nov. 18, 2012. It was the first NCAA title won by a women's team in Tufts history. The Jumbos finished with a 19-2 record overall, including 9-1 in the conference.

First-team All-American Emily Cannon, 2012 leading scorer Chelsea Yogerst, and starting goalie Bri Keenan lead the returning group of Jumbos in 2013.
