FREDRICKSBURG, Va. -- Sophomore defender Kathleen Namey scored a pair of goals on penalty corners and freshman Ashlin Jones added a pair of goals in leading Mary Washington to a 7-0 victory against visiting Washington & Lee. The Eagles improve to 3-0 on the season.

Namey opened the scoring just two minutes into play on a penalty corner pass from freshman Christine Loehr. Just 2:05 later, Loehr found Caitlin Baker on a corner, who slid the ball to Namey, who fired in her second score in as many shots to up the lead to 2-0.

"We were a lot more successful today in our corners," said Namey, a Fredericksburg native who transferred to UMW from American after attending that school for one year. "We passed much better across the top, and finished better as well."

Baker scored unassisted with 25 minutes remaining in the half, following her own rebound of a saved shot, to lift the lead to 3-0, and Loehr scored 3:11 later, also off a rebound, to push the margin to four. With 6:43 left in the frame, sophomore Carlee Budd scored on a Nicole Guinn pass on a corner to give the Eagles a 5-0 advantage at intermission.

In the second, Jones scored 1:10 into play on a Baker assist, and then again with 25 minutes left on a Jenna Steele pass along the end line, to cap the scoring.

"I'm just honored to be on this team," said Jones, who has scored four goals in her first three games. "The upperclassmen are so accepting to the new players. I feel very good about the position we are in and thankful to be out there contributing."

The Eagles led in shots, 27-2, and in penalty corners, 9-4. Junior Emily Badis made no saves in 60 minutes in goal, and Megan McLaughlin added one stop in relief.
