Roundup: No. 2 Tufts wins in non-league play

No. 2 Tufts 5, Massachusetts-Dartmouth 1

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Sophomore Dakota Sikes-Keilp registered two goals to lead No. 2 Tufts against the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs 5-1 in non-league field hockey action Tuesday night at Bello Field.

The Jumbos got on the board 1:54 into the game when Sophomore Hannah Park scored on an assist from sophomore Allison Rolfe.

Tufts made it 2-0 when senior Chelsea Yogerst took a feed from senior Stephanie Wan and deflected it past the keeper. At the 23:30 mark, Emily Cannon dribbled down the field and gave her team a 3-0 halftime lead.

Sophomore Alison Ladue scored for the Corsairs in the 44th minute to make a 4-1 game.

Sikes-Keilp registered both goals of the second half for the Jumbos. Her second goal of the game was a reverse chip from the top of the circle off of a corner to make the final score 5-1.

No. 5 Mary Washington 1, Catholic 0

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sophomore Jenna Steele scored the game's lone goal with nine minutes left in the first half, as eighth-ranked Mary Washington defeated No. 13 Catholic, 1-0, on Tuesday night in Washington, D.C.

The Eagles improve to 9-0 on the season.

In a game where the host Cardinals held a 19-5 shot advantage, it was Steele who found the cage for the only score of the night. Catholic also led in penalty corners, 9-4.

Junior goalie Emily Badis made a career-high 15 saves in recording the shutout for the Eagles. Megan Comunale had four saves for CUA.
