Virginia Union Smashes Virginia State

PETERSBURG, Va. - Virginia Union University rushed for a school record 490 yards as the Panthers smashed the Trojans 31-3 in front of a national televised audience on October 15.
The meeting was also the 100th game between the two schools in a series which dates back to 1900. The Trojans lead the series 49-42-9.
Trevon Winston’s led in rushing with 180 yards while teammate Christopher Smith had 145 yards on the ground.
In all, Virginia Union tallied 511 total yards in offense to VSU's 118.
VUU raised it's record to 5-3.
The Panthers will welcome all Alumni and friends to Homecoming 09’ on October 24th when they play the Bulldogs of Bowie State. During halftime we will honor the 1959 CIAA Championship Team.
