DURHAM, N.C. -- Henry Frazier III is leaving Prairie View A&M to take over as North Carolina Central's head coach.
N.C. Central said Thursday that it hired Frazier to take over for Mose Rison, who was removed as coach and reassigned within the athletic department Oct. 18.
The school said Frazier received a five-year contract with a base salary of $225,000.
Frazier was 43-30 in seven seasons at Prairie View and led the Panthers to consecutive 9-1 seasons in 2008 and '09. He was the Southwestern Athletic Conference's coach of the year in 2009.
