Virginia Tech CB Exum cleared to play

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Senior cornerback Antone Exum has been cleared to return to the lineup for Virginia Tech.

Hokies trainer Mike Goforth says Exum has been cleared for full participation by Dr. James Andrews.

Exum had surgery in January after tearing his ACL, lateral and medial meniscus and suffering a bone fracture in his right knee playing pickup basketball. He had targeted the Hokies' game against North Carolina for his return, and the teams meet Saturday at Lane Stadium.

In his absence, freshmen Brandon Facyson and Kendall Fuller have more then held their own. Facyson is tied for the national lead with four interceptions, and the defense is allowing just 241 yards per game, fourth-best in the country.

Goforth says Exum's playing time will be determined by how the knee responds to practice.
