Statitudes: Best numbers from Week 9


Houston is the only FBS team to score in every quarter this season.


Northern Illinois QB Jordan Lynch is one of two players in the past 10 seasons with four passing touchdowns, a rushing TD and a TD reception in a game, joining Terrelle Pryor. Both did it vs. Eastern Michigan. Furthermore, Lynch is the only FBS player in the past 10 seasons with three pass TDs, one rush TD and a reception TD in a half of the Huskies’ 59-20 win.


Miami (Fla.) is the first FBS team to win three consecutive games after trailing by double digits in each since Michigan in 2007. The Hurricanes trailed by 11 points against Wake Forest before winning 24-21.


Johnny Manziel tossed three TD passes in the first quarter for the first time in his career. Texas A&M defeated Vanderbilt 56-24.


Eastern Washington QB Vernon Adams tied his and a school record with six touchdown passes in the Eagles’ 42-37 victory against Montana. Adams threw for 457 yards.


Baylor QB Bryce Petty threw a 62-yard touchdown pass to Tevin Reese in the Bears’ 59-14 win against Kansas, giving him eight pass TDs of at least 60 yards this season. No other FBS player has more than five.


Oregon’s Mark Helfrich is the first head coach in school history to win his first eight games. The Ducks beat UCLA 42-14 on Saturday.


Clemson WR Sammy Watkins set a school record with 14 receptions in the Tigers’ 40-27 win against Maryland. He had 163 yards.


Minnesota defeated Nebraska 34-23 to snap a 16-game losing streak to the Huskers.


BYU WR Cody Hoffman caught his 31st career receiving touchdown, breaking a tie with Austin Collie for most reception TD in school history. Hoffman had four catches for 57 yards.

38Missouri has forced a turnover in 38 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the FBS. The Tigers had three takeaways in its 27-24 2OT loss to South Carolina.
45Alabama has scored at least 45 points in four consecutive games, tying the school record for longest streak streak set in 1920 and 1945. The Crimson Tide beat Tennessee 45-10 on Saturday. Alabama has outscored its opponents 151-0 in the first half in its past six games.
46Oklahoma State has scored at least 20 points in 46 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the FBS. The Cowboys beat Iowa State 58-27 on Saturday.

Duke won at then-No. 16 Virginia Tech 13-10, its first win against a ranked opponent since 1994 and a victory against a ranked opponent on the road for the first time since 1971. The Blue Devils had lost 47 consecutive games against ranked opponents.

455Western Connecticut State RB Octavias McKoy broke the NCAA all-division single-game rushing record with 455 yards. McKoy,  who plays at the Division III level, scored five touchdowns in the Colonials’ 55-35 win against Worcester State.
635SMU QB Garrett Gilbert had 635 yards of total offense (538 pass yards, 97 rush yards) in the Mustangs’ 59-49 victory against Temple, the seventh-most by any player in FBS history.
3,172Vanderbilt WR Jordan Matthews passed Terrence Edwards for the most career receiving yards in SEC history with 3,172. Matthews had eight catches for 92 yards in the Commodores’ 56-24 loss to Texas A&M.
15,049Tusculum QB Bo Cordell broke the Division II record for career passing yards with 15,049. He threw for 349 yards in a 41-33 loss to Wingate on Saturday.
