West Virginia, Alabama to meet in 2014 opener

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia's 2014 football schedule includes a neutral-site matchup with Alabama and a Thursday night home game with Kansas State.

The schedule released Tuesday includes the season opener Aug. 30 against the Crimson Tide in Atlanta.

WVU plays its home opener Sept. 6 against Towson and travels to Maryland the following week.

West Virginia will play three of its first four Big 12 games at home. They are Sept. 27 against Oklahoma, Oct. 4 against Kansas and Oct. 18 against Baylor. The Mountaineers' other Big 12 home games are Nov. 1 against TCU and Thursday, Nov. 20, against Kansas State.

WVU has conference road games Oct. 11 at Texas Tech, Oct. 25 at Oklahoma State, Nov. 8 at Texas and Nov. 29 at Iowa State.
