Heart of Texas Bowl canceled

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- Ouachita Baptist's athletic department says Saturday's Heart of Texas Bowl game has been canceled because of bad weather.

OBU was scheduled to play Tarleton State of Texas. The matchup of 7-3 teams was to have been played in Copperas Cove on Saturday night.

An ice storm was hitting part of the Southern Plains on Thursday and hazardous travel conditions could persist with very cold air in place.

OBU Athletic Director David Sharp said the cancellation is in the best interests of player and fan safety. He said the school was disappointed.

Saturday's Live United Bowl in Texarkana was also postponed, as were the Arkansas state high school football playoff games set for Friday and Saturday.

OBU plays in the Great American Conference and Tarleton plays in the Lone Star Conference.
