Texas and Oklahoma will play Red River Showdown at Cotton Bowl until 2025

DALLAS -- Texas and Oklahoma will play annually at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas until 2025.

The schools have agreed to a five-year extension at the historic stadium in the city's Fair Park neighborhood.

The annual Red River Showdown draws tens of thousands of fans during the State Fair of Texas, with Sooner red and Longhorn burnt orange split at the 50-yard line.

Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione said the Sooners were ''thrilled about preserving the rich tradition of this game.'' Texas athletic director Steve Patterson told The Dallas Morning News that the Cotton Bowl has a ''tradition and feeling to playing.''
