Brooks goes down

Clemson's leading rusher returning from the 2013 season, Zac Brooks, will be sidelined for the 2014 season due to a foot injury. Brooks was third in rushing yards last season with 246 yards and 48 carries.  He was the offense's second-most productive returning player behind receiver Adam Humphries.  The Tigers lost their two top recievers, top two rushers and top passer to the NFL following the 2013 season.

Brooks was Clemson's best option to start at running back this season but now the job falls between juniors D.J. Howard and C.J. Davidson.  After what head coach Dabo Swinney had seen from Brooks this preseason, he was looking forward to using him as his leading man.

"Zac was having an outstanding camp and was ready for a terrific year," Swinney said. "This is a big loss because he is such a reliable player in all phases of the game. He knows the offense inside and out."
