Lucky spot

Like everyone else in the college football world, Sean Maguire was surprised to hear he would be starting -- and finishing -- Saturday's game against Clemson. The sophomore maybe wasn't completely caught off-guard, as he led the Noles to a 23-17 victory in overtime, but it was his family who was blindsided by the news and forced to make a quick decision.

Maguire's father, Kevin, and mother, Tina, were scheduled to be in two different parts of the country. To make matters more complicated, the couple had actually given the tickets they had to the Clemson game to another family member.

But much like Jimbo Fisher's, the Maguire's plans changed and the New Jersey family made its way to Doak Campbell Stadium. When her son completed a 74-yard touchdown pass to Rashad Greene in the third quarter, Tina Maguire was in a tunnel of the stadium, temporarily too nervous to continue watching in the stands. At the superstitious suggestion of her family, Tina took residence in that tunnel for the remainder her son's first win as a Seminole.
