RALEIGH, N.C. -- Saint Augustine's football player Matthew Mangram was killed in a car accident Monday morning.

Saint Augustine's athletic director George Williams issued the following statement:

"It is always hard and difficult to lose a family member, but to lose a young man in the prime of his life like Matthew, who was an honor student and starter on the football team is almost unspeakable," Williams said.

Mangram, 20, was a junior offensive lineman. A native of Darien, Georgia, Mangram majored in criminal justice.
