Southern band assists with halftime proposal

Proposing at a sporting event is not exactly the newest of ideas. But getting the band involved, too? That's something you don't see every day.

At halftime of Saturday's Bayou Classic between Grambling and Southern, former Southern fullback Calvin Mills proposed on the field to his girlfriend as the Jaguars' "Human Jukebox" band formed the words "marry me." There was even a member hiding in a giant box who presented Mills with the ring.

She said yes.

Nearly two years later, former Southern receiver Devon Gales has made a major stride in his ongoing recovery. On Thursday afternoon, Gales posted a video of him walking for the first time since his final game in pads for the Jaguars. The video, shared on Gales' Twitter account, is accompanied by the caption, "I'm on the way!!"
