Lee Corso has become a fixture of College Football Saturdays as a mainstay on ESPN's College GameDay. A player at Florida State in the 1950s with coaching stints at Louisville, Indiana and Northern Illinois, he is known for his exuberance and enthusiasm -- and of course, his tradition of putting on the mascot head of his pick in GameDay's featured game.
Corso is celebrating his 80th birthday on Friday, and social media is abuzz with tributes to him and his trademark headgear choices.
Nick Saban got in the fun, with an Instagram video of him wearing the head of Alabama mascot Big Al.
It's another reminder that college football season is right around the corner: Corso's first mascot head of the season is just 29 days away.
Happy 80th birthday to Lee Corso! We apologize for the speed of this Vine -- too many good memories to cram in. https://t.co/WbVCoAowJ0
