Maine football trolls Indianapolis Colts on failed trick play

It is being called the worst play in football history.

On fourth and three, the NFL's Indianapolis Colts, down six against the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, shifted from punt formation into a strange trick play.

And it failed miserably.

However, in 2011, Maine had tried a similar formation on a two point conversion try, and it succeeded, thanks to an incredible helicopter move by the quarterback, giving the Black Bears a one-point overtime win over then-No. 6 James Madison.

So, Maine just couldn't give up the opportunity to poke a friendly jab at Indy.

Maybe the NFL should leave the trickeration to the college ranks.
