The Oregon football program hosted a ceremony last Saturday to give a Hawaiian blessing of Marcus Mariota’s Heisman Trophy.
The Hawaii native and current Tennessee Titans quarterback was present for the ceremony, and it was clear it meant a lot to him. The 2014 Heisman winner spoke to those on hand -- which included the current Ducks team -- after the blessing and was visibly emotional.
The ceremony was held at Autzen Stadium prior to Oregon’s Week 12 contest against USC. Perhaps Mariota and the blessing motivated the current Ducks because they went out hours later and dominated the Trojans, 48-28.
