Dabo could make good on championship promise to Clemson

At Dabo Swinney's introductory press conference in 2008 the newly minted head coach stated a series of goals for the Clemson football program.

"My goals will be simple: to recruit the very best student-athletes we can recruit, to graduate them and to win a championship," he said:

Recruit the best student-athletes? Tahj Boyd, Sammy Watkins, Deshaun Watson. Check. Graduate those student-athletes? The Tigers rank in the top ten percent of FBS programs in Academic Progress Rate. Check.

And on Monday, less than eight years later, Swinney has the undefeated Tigers in a good position to reach that last goal.

Dabo and the Tigers take on Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide on Jan. 11 in Glendale, Az. for the College Football Playoff National Championship
