Walk-on football players put most of their effort into the sport behind the scenes, but it certainly doesn't go unnoticed.
Tulane's Marshall Wadleigh learned that this week as head coach Willie Fritz surprised him during a team meeting with a scholarship for his senior season.Watch the special moment as Fritz shares the good news with Wadleigh, who gets swarmed by his teammates afterwards:
"Some guys come here, they don't have a scholarship, but they earn it."@GreenWaveFB TE Marshall Wadleigh sure did.https://t.co/SBpoqLmSdb

Wadleigh has played in 37 career games for Tulane, mainly on the Green Wave's special teams. The senior's combined efforts on and off the field also earned the senior a spot on the Wuerffel Trophy watch list. The award is given to the FBS player "that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement."
What a moment for Wadleigh to share with his teammates and coaches. The Green Wave open their season against Wake Forest on Sept. 1.
