The Kansas football and basketball programs reside on opposite ends of the athletic spectrum. The basketball team has won 12 Big 12 conference titles in a row, while the football team didnât win a game last season.
The Jayhawks are looking for redemption on the gridiron this year, and they recently took some inspiration and advice from head basketball coach Bill Self. He delivered a speech to the team, and it was outstanding. See it for yourself:
Before @KU_Football's season begins, they got a pep talk from a familiar #kubball face - https://t.co/9CDYV7yoXphttps://t.co/2k7jFM0eQv

âWhen I got here, Iâm never going to the best coach ever here. Phog Allen coached here,â Self said. âWhoever we recruit is never going to be the best player that ever played here. Hell, Wilt [Chamberlain] played here. Our job is to maintain. You know what your job is? To build.â
The Jayhawks have plenty of room for progress, and perhaps theyâll heed Coach Selfâs words of wisdom.
