Ohio Stadium has the third-highest maximum capacity in college football, and it just added one more very special seat.

Urban Meyer announced on Twitter today that Ohio Stadium will add a seat that will honor the United States’ armed forces. It will remain unoccupied. The plaque in front of the seat reads:

“Since World War 1, more than 92,000 American soldiers are unaccounted for. This unoccupied seat is dedicated to the memory of these brave men and women and to the sacrifices each made in serving this country. God Bless You. God Bless America.”

Coach Meyer is clearly pleased with the addition:

A very classy move from the Buckeyes, indeed.

Joe Boozell has been a college basketball writer for NCAA.com since 2015. His work has also appeared in Bleacher Report, FOXSports.com and NBA.com. Joe’s claim to fame since joining NCAA.com: he’s predicted the correct national championship game twice… and picked the wrong winner both times. Growing up, Joe squared off against both Anthony Davis and Frank Kaminsky in the Chicagoland basketball scene. You can imagine how that went.
