James Connerâs story is known at this point, but that doesnât make it any less special. The star Pittsburgh running back fought and overcame Hodgkinâs Lymphoma this past year, and now, heâs dominating on the football field. Conner led the way in the Panthersâ huge upset over Clemson on Saturday.
Speaking of the Tigers, former Clemson starting pitcher Clate Schmidt is also a cancer survivor. Schmidt was diagnosed with Hodgkinâs Lymphoma in May 2015; he became cancer free later that summer.
Conner and Schmidt had a chance to meet this weekend for the first time, and it was extremely touching. Take a look:
