Jim Harbaugh meets the pope, plays gladiator in Rome

Michigan football is nearing the end of a week-long trip to Rome, and — surprise — nobody on that trip is having more fun than Jim Harbaugh.

Earlier in the week, after meeting with refugees in the the city, Harbaugh and his wife met Pope Francis and gave him a Michigan helmet with the number 266 (for the 266th pope) along with a pair of custom Air Jordan Retro 5s.

But that was just the start.

Friday, Harbaugh gave his team a lesson in fighting to win when he took on offensive coordinator Tim Drevno in single combat with a sword and shield.

But peak Harbaugh came when the coach inserted his face into a cutout of Russell Crowe’s Maximus from the 2000 movie “Gladiator,” and recited the protagonist’s famous speech:

Uncanny.

If that is shown before every Michigan game this season, prepare for the Wolverines to go undefeated.
