The Associated Press | October 5, 2013 Roundup: West leads Towson; Lehigh falls Share NDSU rallies late to beat UNI 24-23 FARGO, N.D. -- Sam Ojuri ran for 96 yards and the go-ahead touchdown as top-ranked North Dakota State rallied back from a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to prevail 24-23 against No. 4 UNI on Saturday. With three minutes to play, Ojuri took the handoff, shuffled right and burst through a gap up the middle, breaking two tackles on his way to the 19-yard game-winning touchdown. The Bison (5-0, 2-0 Missouri Valley) cut the lead to 23-17 earlier in the fourth quarter. Going for it on fourth-and-6 from the Panthers' 11, Brock Jensen threw a line drive to Zach Vraa crossing the middle of the end zone. David Johnson had 142 yards on 12 carries for the Panthers (4-1, 0-1) but injured his hip in the third quarter on UNI's last scoring drive. Though able to return, he was still in pain and stayed on the sideline for most of the remaining plays. West carries Towson past New Hampshire TOWSON, Md. -- Terrance West rushed for 238 yards and three touchdowns as No. 2 Towson defeated No. 18 New Hampshire 44-28 on Saturday. Towson (6-0, 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association) ran up a whopping 731 yards in total offense, as the Tigers came back from a 20-3 first quarter deficit to run away with the conference matchup. New Hampshire (1-3, 0-1) put up three touchdowns in the first quarter, including a 29-yard touchdown pass from wide receiver Jared Allison to Harold Spears, but the Wildcats didn't score again until late in the fourth quarter when the outcome was no longer in doubt. West, who eclipsed 3,000 career rushing yards, led Towson's takeover in the second quarter. His 50-yard touchdown run preceded a pair of 1-yard scores. Peter Athens completed 22 of 33 passes for 343 yards and two scores to complete the offensive onslaught. Andy Vailas and Nico Steriti both rushed for TDs for New Hampshire. Johnson leads Montana State to win against Northern Arizona BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Shawn Johnson ran for 92 yards and a touchdown and had a 100-yard kickoff return for a score to lead Montana State to a 36-7 win over Northern Arizona in a matchup of two ranked FCS teams on Saturday. Johnson's 27-yard touchdown run and three field goals by Rory Perez put MSU (4-2, 2-0 Big Sky) up 16-0 at halftime. The Bobcats then got a 9-yard TD run by quarterback DeNarius McGhee and a 12-yard TD run by Cody Kirk to build a 29-0 lead. NAU's only score came on a 37-yard interception return by Austin Hasquet, but Johnson returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown. MSU's defense didn't allow any scoring and held NAU (3-2, 1-1) to 232 yards. Kirk ran for 156 yards on 27 carries for MSU, while Zach Bauman, who eclipsed 4,000 career yards last week, was held to just 26 yards on nine carries. Adams leads E. Washington past Weber St. 41-19 CHENEY, Wash. -- Vernon Adams threw for four touchdowns and ran for another as No. 8 Eastern Washington rolled to a 41-19 win against Weber State in a Big Sky Conference game on Saturday night. Adams had three scoring throws and a rushing touchdown in the first half as the Eagles (3-2, 1-0 Big Sky) opened up a 27-12 lead. Freshman Cooper Kupp had the first two scores, covering 50 and 27 yards, giving him nine touchdowns among 22 catches this season. Adams found Ashton Clark for a 14-yard TD reception for the third. Demitrius Bronson scored on a 9-yard run and Adams hit Mario Brown for 6 yards in the third quarter when the Eagles out-gained the Wildcats (1-5, 0-2) 165-14. EWU had a 493-249 advantage in total offense, including 279 on the ground as four different backs had at least 40 yards, led by Brown's 98 on 10 carries. Southern Illinois tops South Dakota State 27-24 BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Kory Faulkner rushed for two touchdowns, passed for another and Thomas Kinney hit a pair of field goals to lift Southern Illinois to a 27-24 Missouri Valley Conference win against No. 9 South Dakota State on Saturday. The game, South Dakota State's 100th Hobo Day, was tight throughout with three ties and two lead changes. The Jackrabbits (3-3, 0-2) ended the first half ahead 17-10 after a Zach Zenner rushing TD, Justin Syrovatka field goal and Charles Elmore's 89-yard return of a Faulkner interception. The Salukis (3-3, 1-1) responded two minutes after intermission when Faulkner hit John Lantz for a 59-yard scoring pass to tie. Faulkner ran in from the 3 in the final quarter. Kinney added field goals of 35 and 42 yards. South Dakota State's Zenner scored from the 1, capping a six-play drive to close within 27-24, but a final drive ended on downs with 1:46 remaining. Fordham tops Lehigh 52-34 behind Nebrich NEW YORK -- Michael Nebrich threw for 384 yards and four touchdowns as No. 13 Fordham remained undefeated with 52-34 win against No. 10 Lehigh on Saturday in the Patriot League opener for both teams. Sam Ajala hauled in three of Nebrich's touchdown passes, the first being a 25-yarder on Fordham's opening possession. Nebrich and Ajala then connected for a 40-yard score just before halftime and a 62-yarder in the third quarter. Ajala finished with 166 yards receiving as Fordham (6-0) handed Lehigh its second loss in its past 25 regular-season games. Lehigh (4-1) trailed 31-28 late in the third, but Fordham put the game out of reach with three consecutive touchdown drives. Brandon Bialkowski threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns for Lehigh. Bialkowski has now thrown for more than 300 yards in each of Lehigh's five games this season.
