College football: Big 12 showdown in Waco, other Week 11 storylines

The Big 12 has had November circled on its calendar all season. It's the month where the conference's top teams face their toughest tests of the season and can throw their names into contention for a playoff spot.

In Week 10, Oklahoma State made a statement with its dominating performance over TCU. Now Baylor or Oklahoma has the opportunity to step up.

Here's what to expect during the Big 12 showdown in Waco, Texas on Saturday night and other storylines to look out for in Week 11.

Other stories to follow:

Will Memphis play spoiler to Houston? The Memphis Tigers' hopes for an undefeated season were dashed with their first loss to Navy. Houston, on the other hand, barely held onto its undefeated record with 33-30 win against Cincinnati. Both teams still have plenty left at stake, including a chance at the AAC championship and possibly a berth to a New Year's bowl in the Group of Five. It's bound to be a battle of the quarterbacks with Memphis' Paxton Lynch and Houston's Greg Ward Jr. both having standout seasons for their team.

Can North Carolina and Stanford clinch their divisions? Stanford and North Carolina both have a chance to clinch their divisions this week with wins over Oregon and North Carolina, respectively. North Carolina's offense has put up impressive numbers in several weeks and its high-tempo will look to throw against Miami, who is 2-0 under interim coach Larry Scott. The Tar Heels do need some help from their rivals to clinch, though, with a Duke win over Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, the Cardinal can outright clinch the Pac-12 North with a win over Oregon, but given the history between the programs, that won't be as easy. Stanford upset Oregon twice before in that position, so the Ducks will have a chance to be on the other side on Saturday.
