Methodist wins Jekyll Island Invite
Wesko pulls out individual championship by one stroke
JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- No. 3 Methodist held off 29 teams in the final round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational to win by 12 strokes at 858 (279-287-292).
Oglethorpe, finished second at 870 (281-298-291) and Emory was third at 872 (292-292-288).
Methodist's Mike Wesko came from behind to shoot 4-under in the final round and top the individual leaderboard by one stroke at 209 (70-71-68). He finished 7-under for the tournament to lead the Monarchs.
Robby Bruns finished sixth at 213 (65-72-76) with a team-high 14 birdies. As a team Methodist paced the field with 54 birdies thank in part to Bruns' 14 and Wesko's 12.
Dakun Chang finished in 14th place with a 218 (70-73-75) and Mike Duncan tied for 32nd with a 222 (75-71-76). Andrew Bateman was one stroke back at 223 (74-76-73) to finish tied for 37th.
