JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- Senior Stefan Johnson tied for the individual title as No. 6 Illinois Wesleyan won the 30-team Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational by eight strokes at the Pine Lakes Golf Course on Sunday.

After a final day team score of 295, the Titans had a winning team score of 882 (295-292-295), leading No. 2 Methodist at 890 and first-day leader No. 1 Oglethorpe with a 893 score. No. 13 Emory (902) and No. 16 Transylvania (904) rounded out the top five.

Johnson shot a final round 1-under par 71 to finish with a 54-hole score of 217, tied with Brad Shigezawa of No. 19 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (71-72-74) on the par 72, 6772 yard course.

Sophomore Kenny Wienckowski finished tied for sixth with a three-day score of 5-over par 221 (75-70-76) and sophomore Spencer Groessl tied for 11th at 223 (76-74-73). Sophomore Gabe Aprati placed in a 12th place tie with his 8-over score of 224 (75-74-75).

The Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational field featured 11 of the top 25 teams, including Illinois Wesleyan, Oglethorpe, Methodist, Claremont Mudd-Scripps, Emory, No. 4 UT-Tyler, No. 10 St. John Fisher, T11 LaVerne, No. 14 Skidmore, No. 16 Transylvania and No. 18 LaGrange.

In addition, 10 of the top 25 individual players in the country competed, including Oglethorpe sophomore and current No. 2 Anthony Maccaglia, No. 17 senior Eric Quinn and No. 22 junior Hayden Jones. Other top-five golfers participating include LaGrange's Cory Howard and Claremont Mudd-Scripps' Ian Bangor.
