After 20 years at Wyoming, Prenzlow hired to lead Northern Colorado
GREELEY, Colo. -- Northern Colorado announced Roger Prenzlow has been hired as the next head coach.
"Roger brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program," Dan Weaver, special assistant to the president for interim athletic responsibilities, said. "He comes highly recommended to the University of Northern Colorado and we feel he is the right person for what our student-athletes, program and university needs. We are looking forward to Roger starting on October 1 and getting things started."
Prenzlow served as the head men's golf coach at Wyoming from 1982 through 2002 and has spent the past 11 years at the Old Baldy Golf Club in Saratoga, Wyoming, serving as both the head golf professional and then the general manager and director of golf.
"I have always had the urge to come back to the collegiate game," Prenzlow stated. "The coaching lure was too strong and brought me back and my wife and I are excited to get down there and get going. We have grandchildren in Greeley and are excited to get back to the family."
While the head coach at Wyoming, the 1992 team became the first to advance to the NCAA West Regional and he coached eight Academic All-Americans throughout his tenure.
At Wyoming, Prenzlow coached both the men's and women's teams from the time of his hiring in 1982 up until the 1992-93 season, then spent the next 10 years concentrating on the men's program.
