JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- Illinois Wesleyan finished first by 10 strokes and junior Tony Albano was the individual medalist at the 30-team Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, concluded at Pine Lakes Golf Club on Sunday.
The No. 8-ranked Titans finished with a team score of 870 (290-292-288), winning the title in a field that featured seven of the nation's top 10 teams. No. 10 Methodist finished in second with a score of 880 and No. 5-ranked St. John Fisher was in third at 881.
Albano shot a final round 70 on the par 72, 6700-yard course and finished with a three-day score of 211 (70-71-70) to claim a one-shot victory against second-round leader Anthony Maccaglia of Oglethorpe, who finished with a 212.
Junior Spencer Groessl (71-70-75) tied for sixth with a 216 total and junior Kenny Wienckowski had a three-day score of 219 (74-73-72) and tied for 12th.
Sophomore Alex Quenan (76-78-71) tied for 40th with a score of 225 and junior Gabe Aprati (75-79-75) tied for 54th with a 229 score.
