No. 3 CS Monterey Bay wins Hanny Stanislaus Invitational

TURLOCK, Calif. -- Third-ranked Cal State Monterey Bay carded a tournament-low 1-under-par 287 in Tuesday's final round of the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational to collect its fourth win of the 2013-14 season. Senior Dylan Jackson rolled to his fifth top-three finish with a 1-under 215 for third place.

The Otters (295-290-287 – 872, +8) were taking turns taking the lead with No. 4 Chico State in the final round until the very end. Host and ninth-ranked Cal State Stanislaus finished third at 880, followed by No. 6 Central Missouri (888) and Western Washington (891).

"I am very proud of the guys for this is a good team win," said head coach Jason Owen. "We started off slow but we got it together and finished up strong.

"Three more weeks of this would be perfect."

Jackson's final-round scorecard at Turlock Golf and Country Club consisted of an even par front nine with a bogey on No. 2 before he countered it with a birdie on No. 7. After a bogey on No. 11, Jackson made back-to-back birdies on Nos. 13 and 14 before ending the tournament with a bogey-birdie tradeoff on Nos. 17 and 18.

Through 54 holes, Jackson recorded eight birdies, seven bogeys and 39 pars.

After two rounds under par, sophomore Anton Rosen dipped down to a 79 in the final round to finish tied for ninth at 221.

Junior Brandon Hortt and sophomore Carr Vernon carded a 72 and 73 respectively, finishing the tournament in a five-way tie for 14th at 223.

Sophomore Ray Richards matched a career-best with a final round of 71 to finish 19th with a 224.

Competing as individuals, junior Robby Salomon shot a three-round total 234 for a share of 62nd place while sophomore Chris Jodis is tied for 84th with a 240.
