Indiana (Pa.) claims Atlantic/East Regional

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Indiana (Pa.) posted a three-day total of 863 to claim the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional and advance to the national championships later this month in Allendale, Mich.

Joining the Crimson Hawks at the NCAA championships will be St. Thomas Aquinas which posted a total score of 869 to finish runner-up. Charleston posted the second-lowest round of any team on the

day to force a playoff for the third and final spot with Adelphi. The Golden Eagles won on the first playoff hole.

Individually, UC's Jamin Smith took medalist honors with a three-day score of three-under 210. Adelphi's Louis Kelly was second with a score of one-under 212 and advanced to the NCAA championships as an individual in the process. Zack Kempa of IUP was even for the tournament to take third, and Kurt Brey of Dowling and Jack Owen of IUP finished in a tie for fifth with a score of one-over 214. Brey advances to the NCAA championships as an individual being the next finisher from a non-advancing team.
