Mesa State won the ThunderWolf Ladies Spring Invitational by three strokes Sunday over Montana State-Billings on Sunday at the Desert Hawk Golf Course in Pueblo West, Colo.


MSC shot a two-round total 661 (+85) to finish ahead of MSU-Billings 664 (+88). CSU-Pueblo finished third (671) and Adams State College placed fourth (678). Colorado Christian (711), Chadron State (715), Regis University (728) and Okla-Panhandle State finished fifth through eighth respectively.

MSC led MSU-Billings by three strokes following day one’s action.

Melissa Saken (78-79-157) took top individual honors. Saken led from start to finish on the par-72 course becoming the only player to shoot back-to-back rounds in the 70’s.

MSU-Billings’ Junior Jennifer Hilts (82-77-159) placed second overall. Hilts shot a 77 final round to climb from fourth after round one to take second.
