The reigning queens will start the final round with a 27-shot advantage on second-place Rollins College, who shot a respectable 3-over 291 on Friday.

Florida Southern is 28 back with fourth place Tarleton State 44 shots behind the leader.

The medalist race is a three-way battle between Nova’s Taylor Collins, Abbey Gittings and 2010 medalist Sandra Changkija. Collins, a senior, is the only player with three rounds in the 60s this week, carding a 6-under 66 on Friday to push her lead to eight shots over Gittings. Collins is 13-under with a round to play and is in line to shatter the DII four-round scoring record of 1-under held by Rollins’ Joanna Coe in 2008.

Changkija is 1-over following an even-par 72 on Friday. Coe, Florida Southern’s Emily Flanagan and Sonoma State’s Spencer Heller are also 1-over after 54 holes.

After shooting rounds of 80 and 76, Missouri-St. Louis’ Shweta Galande shot 69 on Friday. St. Edwards’ Wallis Spears shot 79 on Thursday but bounced back nicely with a 68 on Friday. Ashland’s Erin Misheff turned in an 80 in the third round. She too rolled to a 68 on Friday.

Nova’s performance this week is unmatched in DII women’s golf. The previous 18-hole record was 1-over-par by Rollins in 2005. Nova has shot 5-under twice in three rounds.

The four-round record is 17-over by Rollins also in ’05. The Sharks are 7-under with 18 holes to play.
