HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Chattanooga Mocs and sophomore Jordan Britt swept the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club Tuesday. Britt's medalist honor led UTC to its third consecutive title.

It wasn't easy for the Mocs who trailed by four to start the day. They closed to within a shot through 15 when the Spartans recovered to extend the lead to two through 16 on Ana Lucia Martinez's birdie.

But UTC continued its solid play down the stretch. The ladies played the final three holes at just one-over par on the counting cards. That was in stark contrast to UNCG. The 18th hole served as the rallying point to victory. The Mocs played it at plus one, while the Spartans tallied three bogeys and a costly double to see their lead slip into a three-shot defeat.

Chattanooga's 301 was not only the low team round of the day, but it was the round of the tournament. Its last 36-hole total of 604 was 14 shots better than UNCG's 618 which was the league's second-best total in that span.

Britt capped a solid 54 holes with a two-over par 74. She claimed the three-stroke medalist victory after finishing as a runner-up last year to teammate Emma de Groot (2008-11).

Her lead was precarious after a bogey at 15 opened the door to UNCG's Fanny Cnops, the 32nd-ranked player in the country. The lead was one at that time, but Britt parred out as Cnops dropped a couple of strokes to provide the final margin.

Maria Juliana Loza continued her amazing postseason run. She finished third (227) marking three consecutive top-five finishes for the senior in SoCon Championship play.

Marion Duvernay and Mette Kryger tied for 14th at 237. Duvernay shot 75, one shot off Britt's team-leading 74. Sophie Weilguni shot 76, her best round of the tournament, to end up at 245.
