No. 2 Washington (Mo.) edges host No. 14 George Fox for invite title

PEORIA, Ariz. -- No. 2-ranked Washington (Mo.) edged host and No 14 George Fox by one stroke to win the George Fox Westbrook Invitational held Friday-Saturday at Westbrook Village Golf Course.

Washington U., who held a five-shot lead after Day 1, fired a two-day score of 622 (304-318) on the par-71, 5,951-yard course. The tournament championship for the Bears was their fourth this season.

George Fox was a stroke back with a 623, while No. 9 Redlands (628), No. 18 Gustavus Adolphus (637), No. 22 Wartburg (645), and Baldwin-Wallace (663) rounded out the field. Sydney Maluenda of George Fox fired a five-over 147 (76-71) to win the individual championship by two strokes.

Sophomore Connie Zhou (152, fourth place), junior Olivia Lugar (154) and sophomore Erin Lawrence (156) all had top-seven finishes and were named to the All-Tournament Team.
