Sims, who graduated from Monmouth in 2005 with a degree in sports management, fills the role vacated by longtime coach Molly McNamara. McNamara guided the Fighting Scots women for nine years, producing 11 all-conference selections and finishing as high as third in the 2013 Midwest Conference championships.
A fixture on the sidelines at Knox College since 2008, Sims most recently held the position of head softball coach. She also served the college as an assistant basketball coach and was the top assistant for volleyball. Like her predecessor at Monmouth, Sims will afill the role of director of wellness at Monmouth.
“We’re pleased to have someone of Ashley’s caliber to fill two key positions in our department,” Monmouth athletics director Roger Haynes said. “As a graduate of Monmouth, she understands what we expect from our student-athletes. I’m confident she will continue to build our women’s program into a perennial conference championship contender.”
Sims earned her master's in sport management from Western Illinois.
