DURHAM, N.H. " Jonathan Toews (Fr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) scored midway through the third period with an assist from Brian Lee (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) to give the sixth-ranked UND mens hockey team a 3-2 win over 12th-ranked New Hampshire on Friday.

UND raised its record to 4-1 overall, while New Hampshire dropped to 1-2.

Sioux goalie Jordan Parise (Jr., Faribault, Minn.) stopped 21 of 23 shots in the win to raise his record to 3-0 on the season.

T.J. Oshie (Fr., Warroad, Minn.) got North Dakota on the scoreboard 1:03 into the game when he batted in a rebound off a Chris Porter (Jr., Thunder Bay, Ontario) shot. It was Oshies second goal of the season.

Although the Wildcats did not get their first shot on goal until 8:18 had elapsed in the game, they ended up outshooting the Sioux, 7-5, in the first period as UND was called for three penalties in the last 10 minutes of the period.

Included was a UNH 5-on-3 to finish off the last 50 seconds of the first. The Wildcats entered the second period with 30 seconds remaining in the two-man advantage, but it took UNH just 18 seconds to tie the scorer on a power play goal by Michael Hutchins.

The rest of the period was scoreless, with New Hampshire outshooting the Sioux, 11-5, in the period.

In the third period, UNDs Drew Stafford (Jr., Faribault, Minn.) scored a shorthanded goal after a give-and-go with Travis Zajac (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba) to give UND a 2-1 lead at 5:20. It was Staffords second goal of the season.

New Hampshire tied it, 2-2, just over a minute later (6:59) on a goal by Brett Hemingway.

Toews then scored the game winner at 8:57. It was his third goal of the season.

The Sioux outshot the Wildcats, 14-6, in the third period, and 25-23 for the game. UND was 0-5 on the power play, while New Hampshire was 2-7. Wildcats goalie Jeff Pietrasiak stopped 22 shots.
